The Junior Term-Time Tennis Programme

Following player assessment, juniors are put into the most suitable group for their tennis needs. Each group runs throughout the year (with the exception of a few weeks at Christmas, Easter and Summer holiday period) and has an assigned coach (+ assistants when required) and they take responsibility for the group and communicating with parents, including a player reports (10yrs+) at the end of each term to help set targets and keep track of progress.
Players are also given advice on competitions to play in, levels of training needed to reach their goals and parents evenings to gather feedback, discuss issues and make improvements for the future.

The "LTA Youth" system is used to develop junior tennis players 11yrs and under. For players to fully develop their game from an early age, the Red, Orange and Green stages gradually teach tactical, technical, physical and mental elements of the game on smaller courts using slower balls to make it easier for everyone. Click here for full info from the LTA.
Within each of these stages, players are grouped by age and ability, so that players can progress at their own pace and make the most out of every lesson. Checkout the list of courses currently available.

Tots Tennis

Tots Tennis is for children aged 3 to 5 years and enables them to learn the basic skills and how to enjoy the game through a series of fun activities based on the fundamental areas of balance, co-ordination, agility, movement and racket/ball skills. Modified Mini Tennis Courts are used with unique "Tots Tennis" purple balls (light and easy to hit with control). Parents are encouraged to join in with their child for the first few sessions at early ages to give them the confidence to interact with new friends and enjoy the activities.

Tots Sessions Typically Available weekdays 4/4:30pm and Saturdays 9am

Mini Red Tennis

Mini Red Tennis is for players aged 5-8yrs. It is played on the Mini Red (1/4 size court) with shorter rackets (19-23") and softer Mini Red or foam balls. It’s just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots. Players move from "Mini Red" groups to "Rally Red" groups as they develop their game (later sessions) and Woking has 4 dedicated Mini Red Hard Courts and 2 Mini Grass Courts.

Mini Red Sessions Typically Available weekdays 4/4:30pm and Saturdays 9/10am

Mini Orange Tennis

Mini Orange Tennis is for players aged 8-10yrs. It is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Red or to get started in the game. It is played with shorter rackets (23-25"), softer Orange balls and courts are bigger and wider than the red stage but still smaller than full-size tennis courts allowing players to develop a rounded game whilst learning a range of techniques and tactics. It is the next stage before playing on a full sized court and helps players develop different shots and tactics. Woking is lucky enough to have 4 Mini Orange courts.

Mini Orange Sessions Typically Available weekdays 4:30/5:30pm and Saturdays 10am/11am

Mini Green Tennis

Mini Tennis Green is for players aged 9-11yrs and is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Orange or get started in the game. It is played on a full size tennis court with balls which are a little softer than yellow balls making it easier to learn. It’s the next stage before moving on to full compression yellow balls on a full sized court and helps players develop and improve all aspects of their game.

Mini Green Sessions Typically Available weekdays 5/6pm and Saturdays 11am/12pm

Club Coaching Squads

Once players have progressed through the mini tennis system, they are divided into groups by age and playing level in the yellow ball Club Squads to continue learning about all aspects of the game. Players are encouraged to practise and play matches against fellow Members, as well as play for the Club teams in Summer and Winter leagues.

Sessions Typically Available weekday evenings from 6pm and Saturdays from 12pm
