The Junior Tennis Programme

The WLTCC Junior Tennis programme has long been renowned as one of the best in the area and whatever your age, whether a complete beginner or aspiring top level national, our experienced coaching and competition team will provide expert advice, tailored to help you get the most out of your game. The Performance Programme was awarded LTA Local Player Development Centre Status for 2018-2023 to provide outstanding coaching for kids aged 7 to 10 who are developing a love for tennis, and aspiring to compete at county and regional levels.

A full range of coaching services is provided all year round for all junior Members, with Term-time Groups, Holiday Camps, the Performance Academy or Individual Private Lessons. Players progress through the development programme at their own pace, enabling them to enjoy make the most of their ability and enjoy our extensive social and/or competitive Tournaments, Matches and Competitions and hopefully play for one of the Teams. All our coaches are professionally qualified and LTA Licensed to give assurance of the highest standards.

Everything Tennis at the Club is overseen by Matt Trevail (Tennis Director) reporting to the Club’s Tennis Committee. The Coaching Team and Tennis Programme is run by Jonny Thomson who with Mark Wisdom (Head of Performance) combines to lead a committed and inspired team of coaches, catering for all of your tennis development requirements.

There is also a team of "Tennis Leaders" who have taken their first Level LTA Coaching qualification and assist with Mini-Tennis groups, as well as "Practise Partners" who are strong juniors 16yrs+ that can help anyone wanting to practise their game.

New to Tennis?

Beginners are very welcome at the Club and are usually recommended to start with either the holiday camps to get a taster to tennis in a fun, relaxed environment, or younger players (4-7yrs) can also join one of our 6 week "tennis for kids" 6 week starter courses (waiting list available if course is full). If you want to get started quicker, then players are welcome to come and try one of the term-time groups. The Club also runs various "Open Days" throughout the year, so check the Calendar to see if there are any free taster sessions coming up soon.
