#TeamTennis 2018 Kicks of with Men's 1st Team in action this weekend!

Good luck to all teams in action this weekend as #TeamTennis begins. Please share your team reports/pics and get down to the Club and support #teamwoking with the following matches scheduled at home today 😀:


Men's 2 vs Foxhills 1 - 10am Start
14U Boys 2 vs Selsdon 1 - 1pm Start


Men's 1 vs Wilton 1 - 1pm Start


Captained by Jamie Donaghy, the team face a tough first match against Wilton with a number of players currently out injured. 


1. Jamie Forrest (3.2)
Ranked 100 in the country in first season of U16. He is a Tennis Europe doubles winner and Surrey County Cup winner. He's also recently won two 16U Regional tournaments and 7 14U titles. Stepping up to Men's, he's also won 2 County level tournaments and been chosen to attend the 16U national training camp.


2. Jamie Donaghy (3.2)

Jamie is renowned for achieving a scholarship at Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Florida for his undeniable talent on the court. He held a junior world ranking and qualified to play in the most competitive junior tournament in the world – the Orange Bowl. Jamie has enjoyed recent success by reaching the Semi Finals of the St George’s open.


3. Matt Swanston (4.1)

Matt has been an important player for Woking ltcc over the last 10 years claiming many hard fort victories and aiding in the rise from division 3 to division 1 as player/captain. Matt started his tennis career as a junior player aged 7 at woking wltcc in the squads and junior teams. He then went on to train at Kingston college tennis academy where he competed against some of the top colleges in Florida/California and managed to rise from a 7.2 to a 4.1 rating and top 100 ranked in Britain within 2 years. After that he went to Exeter university where a played for the university team before heading back to woking ltcc to develop his career as a qualified tennis coach. His biggest achievements were getting to the final of the BUCS with Exeter university, winning Sutton clay court men’s grade 3 and getting to the men’s quaters of st.georges hill. 


4. Ashley Mount (4.2)

Before becoming a full-time coach at WLTCC, Ashley was based in Spain training and playing ITF Futures and Spanish Federation tournaments. He still competes in LTA tournaments and as a regular member of WLTCC's Aegon teams for the last 4 years, Ashley is again playing for the 1st team hoping to bring continued competition success to WLTCC.


Further Squad Players:


Ben Baker (4.1)

Current Men's doubles/ mixed doubles champ at WLTCC, as well as previous finalist of Men's singles. He's been a Semi finalist of Woking Open grade 3 and helped secure promotion for mens A team a couple of years ago.


Marcus Thompson (6.2)

All Australian Tennis Team Represented Australia in tours of Sweden, Germany and Italy - Quarter Finals of Australian Open Junior Singles and Doubles - Number 1 player for Cambridge University (Cambridge Blue; Inducted into “Hawks’ Club”) - Number 1 player for The Queen’s Club, London - Number 1 player for Hong Kong Cricket Club - Number 1 player for LTC, Hamburg, Germany - Number 1 player for Memorial Drive Tennis Club, SA - Number 1 Men’s Player in South Australia.
