Thanks to all of those who came down to watch the matches on Sunday, I hope you enjoyed some fantastic tennis and amazing weather. The Woking team managed to maintain their undefeated home status against a tricky Purley side. We would appreciate if you can all attend our final home match of the season (1pm, 21st May) against Westside 1s which will be an extremely close affair.

1. Marcus Solarz Hendriks (Woking) Loss 6-3,6-1
Marcus came up against one of the strongest county cup players in the country (Chris Maguire). Although Marcus and Chris were all square after the first 6 games, the Purley man started to bomb down some huge serves which meant the win was always going to be virtually impossible. Marcus will certainly be looking for revenge next year and will be looking to redeem himself against Westside 1s.

2. Stephen Gibbons (Woking) wins 6-1,6-0
This was arguably one of the more intriguing matches of the night. It was very much a Joshua/Klitschko affair. Woking had the young lion, whereas Purley had the experienced senior player (ranked 2 in the world for vets). After being toyed with in the first game, Stephen knuckled down and was simply too powerful for his more senior counterpart, winning the next 12 games in a row. It is fair to say that the boxing was a slightly closer affair than this particular match.

3. James Eager (Woking) wins 6-2, 6-0
James made his first team debut on Sunday, having been a strong player for the u18s and being seeded no1 in the men’s club champs. He faced a big hitting South African with a fantastic serve. James fought fire with fire and completely outhit his opponent which led to a simple victory.

4. Jamie Donaghy (Woking) wins 6-0, 6-1
The “crowd favourite” made light work of his opponent with his lethal drop shot/lob combination. Just like his previous matches, Jamie acted as a puppeteer, controlling his opponents every move, sending him all over the court. We are waiting to hear from Guinness World Records to see if Jamie has broken the record for “most drop shots in a tennis match.”

1. Marcus Solarz-Hendriks and Stephen Gibbons (Woking) Loss 7-5,6-3

2. Jamie Donaghy and Marcus Thompson (Woking) win 6-2, 6-0

Let’s try and beat the attendance record for our next home match! Sunday 21st May vs Westside 1st team. 1pm.
