JUNIOR SECTION

SPRING term 2010:
21 January - 25 March
Half term: n/a

Players aged, say, 6 - 16 can try our Junior Section. No problem if a junior can't play: we will teach them!

A typical session starts with a bit of class coaching; then members play each other in 'friendlies' or in intra-club tournaments. Willing players may also be entered for inter-club tournaments, either for individual events or team events, depending on numbers.

Payment is for one term in advance and works out at £2 per hour-long session, starting at 6.45 pm on Thursdays, before the seniors arrive. Potential members are welcome to drop in for a 'taster' session to see how they like it.

Juniors who have reached a suitable skill-level have the opportunity of playing older members - and may even play in our senior teams if of a high enough standard.

We are a friendly, relaxed club where new members of all standards are always welcome. This includes juniors: for more information see the box to the right.

We meet every Thursday evening from 7.30 pm onwards (6.45 pm for the Junior Section).

The club holds two graded competitions each year: one is a swiss tournament, the other an all-play-all. We also have teams competing in two county leagues: the Surrey League and the Border League.

To add to the atmosphere, we have a bar which, apart from the usual beverages, offers hot dogs and confectionery for those with a small hole to fill. So come along and try us out!
